Whenever possible use authenticators for 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) and not your cell number for text temporary passwords. Authenticator apps are the ones that spit out a random passcode every 60 seconds
Do NOT use your voice for 2 factor authentication. Criminals can mimic your voice with simple AI tools
Log into your current mobile carriers mobile app and make sure your SIM card is LOCKED. Sometimes the default setting is NOT locked.
use multi-factor authentication for all financial/stock/retirement/crypto
Always use cold storage for crypto
Use VPN when possible
diversify multiple emails for different functions
If you ever get a text saying “Press 1 to confirm your Sim card activation” and you weren’t the one to initiate it, it likely means you are now under attack. If you press 2 to decline, you will likely continue to get the same texts, or a bulk text attack of 1k texts to prevent you from replying “2” or no.
Have another means of calling your financial institutions to alert them you have been hacked and to lock down all outbound wires and ACH until further notice. If you do not have a land line, use skype, desktop whatsapp, google voice etc.
