The irony: The French Revolution against concentrated power ultimately produced another highly centralized, authoritarian government.
It succeeded in changing the rules of society, but failed to prevent power from concentrating in another ruler's hands.
The French Revolution (1789–1799) overthrew the monarchy, dismantled feudal privileges, and challenged the political authority of the aristocracy and Catholic Church.
But the revolutionaries struggled to establish a stable government. France went through competing revolutionary factions, the Reign of Terror, and the Directory before Napoleon seized power in 1799 and eventually crowned himself emperor.
So the 99% stayed the 99%. Class system shackles vs access to Education and Capital. That is the war.
