Good morning. I received a question yesterday, which I feel the answer I gave could help others.

The question was “If you were to purchase 2-year and 5-year treasuries to enjoy the dividend (he meant yield), would you purchase these directly from the US government - how would one do this? Or, would you buy ETFs like SHY or IEI or IEF?”

A: Prefacing this with the usual disclaimer: this is not financial advice. I also don’t know which broker you use (nor do I want to know).

One of my brokers, Charles Schwab, allows customers to purchase individual U.S. Treasuries and has a video explaining how:

https://www.schwab.com/content/how-to-buy-treasuries

Depending on your broker, I’d suggest calling customer service and explaining that you’re not looking to transact immediately. You simply want instructions on how to search for and purchase 2-, 5-, and 10-year Treasury notes.

Personally, if my objective were to earn interest and hold U.S. Treasuries to maturity, I’d favor buying the individual Treasuries over ETFs.

The distinction is that an individual Treasury has a defined maturity date and repayment of face value by the U.S. government, assuming no default. A conventional Treasury ETF continually holds a portfolio of bonds and doesn’t offer that same fixed maturity or guaranteed return of your original investment.

Hope that helps.

The AI Credit Bomb: How the Bull Market Ends

Paul Tudor Jones is not the only investor who sees 2027 as hostile for equities. His argument on CNBC this week was engaging; but the more dangerous case is not simply rich valuations or an IPO supply shock. It is the credit system financing the artificial intelligence build-out…

The irony: The French Revolution against concentrated power ultimately produced another highly centralized, authoritarian government.

It succeeded in changing the rules of society, but failed to prevent power from concentrating in another ruler's hands.

The French Revolution (1789–1799) overthrew the monarchy, dismantled feudal privileges, and challenged the political authority of the aristocracy and Catholic Church.

But the revolutionaries struggled to establish a stable government. France went through competing revolutionary factions, the Reign of Terror, and the Directory before Napoleon seized power in 1799 and eventually crowned himself emperor.

So the 99% stayed the 99%. Class system shackles vs access to Education and Capital. That is the war.

You must go watch the movie at minimum since it is now off broadway. Avail on HBO Max I believe.

Strategy (MSTR) stock fell 10% on Friday, putting it on pace for its worst single-day decline in more than eight months.

The move comes after index provider MSCI announced new eligibility rules that could lead to the removal of Michael Saylor’s bitcoin juggernaut from its global stock indexes.

MSCI said Thursday it will adopt new rules to exclude certain “non-operating companies” from its indexes, including those whose primary business resembles that of an investment fund rather than a traditional operating company.

For context MSCI has only about 4% of MSTR shares outstanding. MSTR is also in Nasdaq 100.

Price is right at the convergence of the 200 and 50dma. Will it hold?

My contribution: Here is a photo I took on a Delta flight heading to JFK. I can’t explain it but I know what I saw. The image is one snapshot. but these lights started to glow through the clouds and got brighter and swooped out of the clouds and followed. Then disappeared. You can clearly see the object get closer. it accelerated like we were standing still. Three purple lights. You tell me what it was.

I saw the movie Disclosure Day by Steven Spielberg. It is about how agencies cover up secrets of aliens. But more importantly, truth and faith.

I believe in supreme cosmic forces that created our solar system and everything beyond. But humans trying to explain everything in scripture is like ants explaining how to build cities. But have you seen ants coordinate to work together? I wonder if we are the top of the food chain after all.

As we approach voting, I want to rhetorically ask what are the real truths in your life? are the choices in your 401k actually choices you made or did someone making those choice simply multiple choice, directed to what they want? Coke, Pepsi, Water at the grocery store, all feeding the same companies.

META, GS, GOOG, Red, Blue, Religion?

IF YOU saw irrefutable proof aliens from other worlds existed, would you still bow down to overweight men in suits and garb? That is the premise of the movie and that is what stuck to my ribs.

Mathematically it is impossible to be alone in the Universe. Good thing most can’t do math.

The movie ends with the words “Listen” aka ‘Observe’

Even yields and FOMC are now in the political arena. What is a content creator supposed to do?

EXAMPLE: a ton of news re Russian diesel. No Russian diesel is going into US driven F350 pickups or Commercial trucks. it is fodder, or jawboning hoping to talk diesel costs lower for mid terms. Just like they try to jawbone rates.
